If you are like me, you have spent hours digging through coupon sites — finding half of them expired and the other half of them fake. So I decided to see what would happen if I let ChatGPT’s new Agent Mode do the work for me!
Instead of copying links and verifying offers manually, I used an AI agent that could browse, analyze, and verify live coupon data from real websites — on my behalf. What happened next surprised me.
What Is ChatGPT Agent Mode?
Agent Mode is ChatGPT’s next evolution — it goes beyond generating text. It allows ChatGPT to act as a digital assistant that can browse the web, follow instructions, and complete real-world tasks automatically.
Unlike regular prompts, Agent Mode:

The Experiment: Finding Valid, Local Great Clips Coupons
For this demo, I gave ChatGPT a specific mission (see specific prompt below):
“Search greatclipcoupons.com (a coupon website) and find valid coupons in Austin, Texas. Ignore anything expired or marked ‘offer ended.’”
The Agent Mode then:
- Crawled every coupon link on the site.
- Opened each offer page individually.
- Filtered results for the words “Austin” and “Expires” with valid dates.
- Ignored expired and duplicate deals.
The result? A clean, verified list of active Great Clips coupons for my local area — something that would have taken me an hour or two manually.
